Jonny Stevens
First of all a quick note on Jonny who two weeks ago had a nasty fall whilst out on a training ride with some of the team. He slipped on some gravel on the hill between the Adisham Road and the Ratling Road and suffered a concussion and a broken rib (or collarbone).
After a stay at King’s College Hospital for a week or so he’s now out and recovering with family.
Obviously we look forward to him getting well as soon as possible and and hope he’ll be able to ride in the not too distant future. All our best from all the riders and friends.
Camchuairt na hÉireann
A team of cyclists from Aylesham and the surrounding district will embark on a 900 mile plus tour of Ireland in July 2024, with the aim of raising £4000 for Henry Lanaway; a young lad from the area who has been diagnosed with a rare genetic condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a life limiting progressive muscle wasting disease. We hope to support Henry’s parents in providing much needed help during this difficult time.
The team led by the inspirational House brothers (Bingo & Dale will be accompanied by Linford & Rylan House, Carl & Mark Moses, Dave Austen, Cathal Bartolo, Mark Tonks, Steve Richards and Glen Dobson. The riders will once again be supported by the one and only van driver Eric Norton.
“We wanted to support a local family, as it all about local people supporting local people bringing the community together.”
Tour organiser: Dale House
To support the men’s epic cycle trip. Unbelievably over £2000 has already be raised so we are about halfway towards our target. A massive thank-you to all who have already contributed.
“Everything has expanded so quickly, from the guys who are willing to give it a go and put in all the training and hard work to achieve this challenge, then be overwhelmed by the generosity of local people who have donated money, to this very worthwhile cause.
Once again, the community has come together and supported our challenge. As we push through the miles on our journey, we are reminding our family, friends, neighbours, community and entire area that there is always hope.
Shirt
As a slight change from our usual Red and Blue kit we’ve decided to go for a green design. Obviously this is because of Ireland but older readers may recall the reversible football/rugby shirts worn at the former Aylesham Secondary School (which sadly closed in 1991).

Sponsors
Dale also said the team are truly inspired by the generosity of local business who have offered their support to this epic challenge, a massive thanks.
